Back in 2003, Fred Falke and I are in the studio on a Monday morning, time to work on a new track. For once we feel like working on something up tempo, 80’s mood, such as « I’m So Excited » by The Pointer Sisters. We switch on the Linn drum, drums done. We play with a Stab Sample in the SP 1200, Fred plays some chords on the CS60 and Rubicon’s frame is here. We love it, it makes us laugh a lot and inspires us to move full on 80’s cliché. I remember it as my best session ever. From Monday to Sunday, no computer, no proper back up procedure, just floppy disks. If you switch it off, you might not get the same mixdown the morning after, so we kept all machines switched on for 6 days, and we just had fun. On the last day, Fred plays a guitar solo at the end of the track, arrangement’s done, time to record the master file. A few days later we play the track to Gildas Loaëc who founded Kitsuné. He loves it and gives us precious help connecting us with his graphic design team & friend Abake, who delivers the perfect artwork, matching the music nicely. -Alan Braxe, 2023
